Jenny, Chef and creative genius, was born in Woking, Surrey (U.K.) and was brought up just outside of Guildford, also in Surrey. It was in Guildford where she recieved her formal training in cooking, nutrition and food preparation. Jenny has managed kitchens in rest homes, pubs, even charter yachts, and cooked professionally in England, France, Spain, Italy and Greece.
Sailing into Halifax Harbour, on a short vacation from her latest cooking adventure in the Caribbean, Jenny met Allen – who had the foresight to immediately launch a campaign to convince her to stay in Canada. On New Year’s day, 90 days after they met, Jenny and Allen were married and began a life together.
Allen, ( the other half of the team ) is Canadian born and always lived in Canada except for three years on a Canadian Military Base in France. He has no formal cooking training but since early childhood, has been comfortable in the kitchen. He works under Jenny’s direction and is always learning.
Together we make meat pies, fruit pies, breads, fruit cakes, and many other delectables – all from scratch using the best ingredients available (including organic where reasonable). Many of our recipes are traditional, from Jenny’s homeland or from the various countries she has worked in, and the rest are recipes that we developed together – all baking is made by hand, just as in the “days of yore”.
