“Eggs?” I hear you tut disapprovingly. “Surely these people are a little ahead of themselves, getting into the Easter thing so early.” Remarks may be made about the unseemly similarity to carols-before-Halloween. But hold on: these are not precocious decorations, these are groceries.
You may not think of a winter fair as a place to stock up the larder, but Dickens Fair is awash with yummy local food. Many vendors even offer free samples, so you can taste test before making a final decision.
There will be mountains of baked goods. Delicious breads. Lovely pies, tarts, cookies, and other treats…. all made locally and some even gluten-free.
And then there are the local specialities that make great gifts if you can persuade yourself to part with them: things like Salish Sea Salt, Singing Bowl Granola, Pure Lovin’ Chocolates (vegan!) and Saltspring Sunrise Premium Edibles’ nut oils and flours.
And on top of that, local farmers will be bringing meat, fish, dried and frozen fruit, and seasonal veggies.
And eggs. Just in case you want to get started on those Easter decorations in good time.
