Sombrero’s Hand-knits

Since retiring almost ten years ago, I have been able to indulge my addiction to fibers–knitting, quilting, crochetting and most recently, spinning and Saori weaving. But knitting always was and still remains my first love.

Sombreo's Hand-Knits, Victoria, BCMy mother taught me to knit when I was twelve so I’ve been knitting a long time. Until I became a grandmother, almost everything I knit was for me (unless you count that one sweater I knit for my high school boyfriend which I’d rather not talk about). All that changed when I became a grandmother. I’ve always had a fear of running out of yarn one inch too early so I never bought just what the pattern called for…always one more skein! I know they say you can bring back unused skeins but who does?

Anyway, six grandkids later, I realized that I had many baskets of left-over yarn in amounts that were too small to really make anything. (No, a granny-square afghan was not in the cards). So, the obvious answer, especially in light of my last name, was “HATS”! I made these for you…I hope you like them!
