Of Mushroom Lore and Bonsai

Quite right, observant reader. These two things have very little in common. Except that each is the topic of a talk at this year’s Seedy Saturday. Because we like to provide a little something for everyone, whatever their gardening interests might be.

So, if fun facts about fungi are your thing, come hear Scott Henderson, Vancouver’s ‘mushroom man’, speak at 10:15 on Mushroom Myths and Lore. Find out what role mushrooms play in your garden, as well as a bit of fascinating mushroom history. (Yes, mushrooms have a history. Or at least our use of them does.)

Or, if you’ve ever thought about trying your hand at the ancient Japanese art of Bonsai, drop in at 11:30 to hear Maurice Bombezin, well-known as an expert teacher of beginners. He’ll be talking about Bonsai’s venerable past, as well as how to get and care for a specimen. We hear he’s even bringing along some lovely plants to drool over.

All part of the Seedy Saturday service. Coming to the Victoria Conference Centre this Saturday, February 21. Hope to see you there.
