Hanging Onto Summer

Hanging Onto Summer

The warm days are still hanging on as is our wish for the never ending relaxed summer season. Blessed beyond words we have been with record breaking sunshine and copious quantities of fresh veggies and fruit to go along with such great weather.

The bounty of the early fall harvest is in full force and we continue to enjoy the fresh abundance that the west coast offers. Berries of astronomical size, peppers that burst with sweetness and beets that bloom with boldness; yes, it’s been a great growing season!

Speaking of growing, this is what’s happening at the James Bay Community Market. Expanding with leaps and bounds our little market is now featuring farmers, crafters and artisans with weekly vendor numbers up near 60 or so. The musical performers have been singing sweet melodies and encouraging toe tapping, gathering crowds in growing numbers. Also expanding in vast quantity are the locals who have come out to support businesses in our own backyard, and to enjoy the pleasures and treats of the market.

Is this a fad possibly or maybe a trend? The market sure would seem to be catching on as people are waking up and remembering the importance of shopping locally, choosing wholeness and supporting their neighbors. The James Bay Community Market encourages all of the above and so much more.

So, as we begin to shift our focus from the lazy days of summer and begin to settle into our own back to school routines, we can all hang onto summer every Saturday until Thanksgiving and enjoy the magic of the market and the memories of summer. Consider yourself a local and consider yourself as part of the James Bay Community Market Family.

See you on Saturday at the corner of Menzies and Superior!
